The producers seem to be focussing on the lighter side of the judges and turning to warm and fuzzy instead of mean and nasty. the judges look like absolute pussy cats.
Unfortunately, they didn't fill in Ryan Seacrest. His comments come off as snarky and juvenile (more so than usual).
I do like that we are getting a larger dose of the good auditions than we have seen in the past few seasons. It creates a scenario where we can get to know the competitors sooner.

We always tape the shows and then watch them on the weekends so I've not seen anything from this week although I hear there are a couple of Iowans who did well. There was at least one contestant last week, a woman, who I thought was very good and they did not put her through. Sometimes I don't get it.
I do agree that Simon seems to be much nicer this year. Gosh, he's even letting the contestants touch him. What's with that? I think maybe it may be that the ratings are down - too many reality shows out there - and they feel they need to tone it down a little. I'm more at the other end. The nastier he is the more I like it. Not sure what that says about me. Ha!
